Accessibility

Tech CU Arena is accessible for all guests requiring ADA accommodations. Seating is available in various locations in the bowl and are all accessible by a wheelchair or walker. Learn more about Accessibility Information.

Alcohol

While outside alcohol may not be brought into Tech CU Arena, nor can outside alcohol be consumed in any of the Tech CU Arena parking lots, guests who are age 21 or older are able to purchase beer, wine, and spirits from a plethora of concession stands throughout the venue. Tech CU Arena reserves the right to evict any underage guests who are observed to be drinking alcohol, any guest providing alcohol to an underage person, and/or any guest who appears to be intoxicated. Tech CU Arena also reserves the right to deny entrance to any guests deemed to be intoxicated.  Tech CU Arena strives to present a family-friendly environment for every guest.

Tech CU Arena promotes responsible use of alcohol with the following policies:

  • Any guest who appears to be to be 40 years of age or younger will be required to provide appropriate proof of age with one of the following forms of identification:
    • Valid United States Driver's License
    • Valid US State of Federal Government issued ID
    • Valid US Passport and/or passport card
    • US Military ID
    • Valid Foreign Passport
    • Foreign Driver's Licenses is not an acceptable form of identification
  • Guests may not possess or purchase more than two (2) alcoholic beverages at a time.
    • All concession stands will discontinue serving alcohol at the start of the third period for Barracuda games.
  • For non–sporting events, alcohol cut–off times will be determined by Tech CU Arena management.
    • Alcohol of any kind may not be brought into or removed from Tech CU Arena.
      • A person exhibiting visible signs of impairment will not be permitted entry into Tech CU Arena.
      • Any guest who exhibits behavior that distracts or interferes with another guest’s enjoyment of the event may be removed from the arena.  

Alcohol will not be served to any underage person or visibly impaired guest; alcohol beverage sales may be prohibited at the discretion of management.

Alcohol Sales at Tech CU Arena

During San Jose Barracuda games, alcoholic beverages are sold until there are ten (10) minutes left on the game clock in the third period. Club bars will close alcoholic beverages until 1 hour before the end of the game.

For Tech CU Arena events other than Barracuda games, alcohol sales are based solely on management discretion and policies are subject to change at any time without notice.

Animals

No animals other than those that are certified "Working Dogs" and "Miniature Ponies" are in service to assist disabled guests are permitted at Tech CU Arena. Service dogs that are "in-training" are also not allowed in Tech CU Arena. 

Behavior

Tech CU Arena is committed safe, comfortable, and enjoyable sports and entertainment experience.  All guests in attendance are expected to respect player and performer safety, respect the venue and staff members and respect other guests, including fans of the visiting teams. Camera & Audio/Video Recorders

As a general rule, still, cameras, either film or digital, that can fit into guests’ pockets are permitted for all Tech CU Arena events.

Please note, however, that the use of still cameras (film or digital) and video & audio recorders is regulated by the promoter of each event. In many cases, the camera policy is not finalized until the day of the event and is subject to last-minute changes. In most cases for concerts, cameras that are considered professional in nature or have a detachable lens are prohibited.

Please be advised that the following items are never permitted at Tech CU Arena:

  • GoPro Camera
  • Selfie Sticks
  • Tripods
  • Monopods

Bag Policy

Security screening will be in place at Tech CU Arena and all bags must be 5" x 9" x 2" or smaller. Bags larger than this, including those coming from Sharks Ice, must be returned to your vehicle unless they are parenting bags and/or medical in nature. All bags will be subject to search prior to entry at Tech CU Arena. 

 

Event Entry Time

Guests are encouraged to confirm door opening times ahead of the event by visiting techcuarena.com/events and selecting the event for which they have tickets.  For San Jose Barracuda games, doors open 60 minutes before the start of the game for Barracuda Battery Members and 45 minutes prior to the start of the game for general guests.

Fan Conduct at Barracuda Games

Hockey Etiquette - In order not to block the view of other guests at Barracuda games, guests are asked to be a courteous fan by waiting for the next whistle before going to or leaving their seats.

Guest Food & Beverage 

For Barracuda hockey games guests may bring in reasonable amounts of outside food and non-alcoholic beverages for their personal consumption. For all other events, guests are not permitted to bring in any outside food or beverage including bottled water.

Guests are welcome to bring empty, reusable water bottles that can be filled at the water bottle filling station located at Section 117 on the main concourse.

Laser Pens

Because of their danger to both other guests and to event performers, all types of laser pens and pointers are prohibited at Tech CU Arena. Any guest found carrying such an object is subject to eviction from the building as well as confiscation of the object.

Marijuana

Consumption of legal or medical marijuana is prohibited on Tech CU Arena premises, as is the use of any illegal substances.

Noise-Making Devices 

Guests are permitted to have small cowbells during Barracuda games. Extraneous noise-making devices including but not limited to horns, whistles, air horns, cymbals, and bugles are not permitted inside Tech CU Arena.

Guests who are identified as having or using these types of devices are subject to eviction from the building as well as confiscation of the object.

Permitted/Forbidden Items

All Events: The below policies are consistent for all events hosted at Tech CU Arena.

Animals: We permit no animals in Tech CU Arena than animals that are certified “Working Dogs” and “Miniature Ponies” that are in service to assist disabled guests. Service dogs “in-training” are not allowed in Tech CU Arena.

Bags: Please check our new bag policy.

Concealed Carry Permit: Guests with a Concealed Carry Permit are not permitted to carry a weapon into the arena.

Prohibited Items: Cans, glass bottles, thermos-type containers, hard-sided coolers, weapons (including masks and props that could be used as a weapon), ammunition, balloons, laser pens, noisemakers such as air horns, selfie sticks, GoPros, flowers, and gifts for a performing artist(s) are not allowed in Tech CU Arena. Guests can dispose of or return prohibited items to their vehicles. In some cases and at management discretion select prohibited items can be stored in the on-site lockers for a nominal fee.

Permitted Liquids: In addition to one (1) sealed bottle of water, perfume and hand sanitizer are permitted liquid items only if in a small plastic container. No glass containers will be permitted regardless of contents.

Weapons: Guests are prohibited from bringing weapons and masks or props that can be used as weapons into Tech CU Arena. Weapons may not be checked in and include, but are not limited to, firearms, explosives, handcuffs, batons, stun guns, knives, tear gas and pepper spray. Guests with these items will not be allowed in the building.  

Permitted/Prohibited Items - Concerts

Outside Food and Beverage: Food and Beverages are not permitted for concerts at Tech CU Arena. Please note outside food and beverage for medical reasons will always be permitted at Tech CU Arena.

Cameras: Cameras that can fit into a guest's pocket are permitted for most concerts. For full details visit techcuarena.com/events and select the show(s) you will be attending. Cameras that are considered professional in nature or have detachable lenses are prohibited.

Signs: Sign policies vary by event and are at the discretion of management and tour operator. Please call 408-287-7070 to speak to the receptionist and get show-specific information.

Banners:  Banners are not permitted for any concerts at Tech CU Arena.

Laptops/Tablets: Laptops/Tablets are not permitted unless the guest will be seated in a Loge Box, Theatre Box, or Suite.

Permitted/Prohibited Items - Barracuda Hockey

Outside Food and Beverage: Guests may bring in reasonable amounts of food and non-alcoholic beverages for their own personal consumption at most events. Empty, reusable water bottles are permitted.

Cameras: Still cameras (film or digital) are permitted as long as the lens does not exceed six inches in length.

Signs: Handheld signs are allowed as long as they are no larger than poster size (20”x30”), do not impair the view of other guests and do not contain vulgar, offensive or graphic content. A sign may not be commercial in nature. Dry-erase boards and signs attached to sticks or poles are not permitted.

Laptops/Tablets: Laptops/Tablets are not permitted unless the guest will be seated in a Loge Box, Theatre Box, or Suite. 

Tech CU Arena has a general “no re-entry” policy during all events. Should a guest of the arena have an emergency please visit the East or West Entrance for further assistance.

Security Screening Checks 

For the safety of all guests, performers, and athletes, Tech CU Arena conducts security screening checks both walk-through security screening Bags that are 5"x9"x"2" or smaller in size will be permitted into Tech CU Arena.  Guests who arrive with bags larger than this will be asked to return them to their vehicle. Parenting/Medical bags will be permitted inside Tech CU Arena after an additional security screening is conducted.

Sensory Kits

Sensory kits are available for fans of all ages with sensory needs are available at no charge at the Information Desks located on the SAP Center concourse near the North and South Entrances and also at Tech CU Arena Information booths on a first-come, first-serve basis. Kits include anti-glare glasses, a fidget toy, tissues, a mini coloring book, and more. Guests may re-enter with Sensory Kits to SAP Center and Tech CU Arena events by entering each venue through the lane marked “Extra Assistance” for inspection. Register for a Sensory Kit before arriving to an event.

This policy is subject to change based on management discretion.

Smoking

Tech CU Arena is a non-smoking facility.

Stroller & Baby Carrier Policy

Child strollers and baby carriers are not permitted in the seating bowl of Tech CU Arena; however, they can be checked in for the duration of the event at no charge and then picked up at any time upon departure from the arena.

Please note: Guests with a ticket for a Loge Box, Theatre Box, or Suite are permitted to bring their stroller into their suite.

Tailgating

Tailgating in the Tech CU Arena parking lots is prohibited per San Jose City Ordinance and violators are subject to citations and fines.

In order to enhance your experience at Tech CU Arena, we ask you to please assist us by sending a text message to Guest Experience if you ever have an issue or question about the Barracuda guest experience.

The Text Assist process is quick and simple and designed to provide you with an immediate response. Here’s how it works:

Text the number 1-229-441-2832 or (229) 441-CUDA and include the issue, comment, or concern with your seating section, row, and seat.

Guest Experience will reply, monitor your situation, and request additional information if needed.

The Text Assist program is not to be used to communicate fraudulent, phony, or irrelevant messages. Mobile numbers that repeatedly send texts that are considered a nuisance will be prevented from communicating in the future.

Throwing Objects

For the safety of all, a guest who throws any object into the stands or onto the playing surface or stage will be evicted from Tech CU Arena at San Jose. The only exception to this policy is when, during a hockey game, a player scores a “hat trick” (three goals in a game). In this case, the throwing of hats is customary and is deemed appropriate. Please note: hats thrown when a hat trick is scored will not be returned.

Ticketmaster Ticketing Information 

Only purchases made directly through Tech CU Arena, the San Jose Barracuda and/Ticketmaster are 100% verified. Tickets purchased through any other channels cannot be verified or managed through Barracuda and/or Tech CU Arena.

Please also note that all sales are final and that no refunds or exchanges are allowed. Tickets can be resold via Ticketmaster Exchange, given away, and/or donated in the event that you are unable or no longer wish to attend.

Ticketing Reselling 

As the official ticketing partner of Tech CU Arena, Ticketmaster offers anyone who wishes to resell their tickets to an event(s) at Tech CU Arena the ability to do so via Ticket Exchange by Ticketmaster.

Please note, on-premise resale of the tickets ("scalping") is against the law per San Jose City Ordinance 6.54.200 and is not permitted in and around Tech CU Arena at San Jose. Violators are subject to fine and confiscation of goods and cash. Tickets may not be resold for any amount, including below face value.

Trespassing

Anyone trespassing or attempting to trespass on the playing surface at games will be evicted and subject to arrest and prosecution in accordance with local ordinances.

Visiting Team Fans & Sportsmanship

Tech CU Arena is committed safe, comfortable, and enjoyable sports and entertainment experience.  All guests in attendance are expected to respect player and performer safety, respect the venue and staff members and respect other guests, including fans of the visiting teams. Review the Code of Conduct for the San Jose Barracuda and Tech CU Arena.

Visiting Team Fans are our guests. Harassment of the visiting team or their fans will not be tolerated and may result in ejection from Tech CU Arena.
